Obituary for William H Stengel III

William H. Stengel, III, age 65, of Voorhees, NJ passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020.

Bill Stengel was born in Philadelphia, PA and resided in Williamstown, NJ before moving to Voorhees in 1994. William was a member of Saint Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Voorhees. He retired in 2008 with United Parcel Service out of Vineland, NJ after a long career as a driver and member of the Teamsters Union. He worked in his second career by building and working his own landscaping business. He was extremely passionate about motorcycling and loved hiking. Vacationing and visiting the national parks was one of his favorite pastimes where he was contemplating becoming a park ranger volunteer when he retired from landscaping. He had a great appreciation for music and especially loved going to music festivals. Bill also enjoyed cooking “his way” and worked so hard to make the family holiday dinners and other home entertainment events as perfect as possible. Something little known to others was his talent for writing; over the years he wrote beautiful poems and letters to his wife. But above all, he cherished the time spent with family, especially Lola and Malin, his granddaughters, and will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, William H. Stengel, Jr. He is survived by his wife, June A. Stengel (Coates); mother, Lucy Stengel, sons, Michael A. Stengel (fiance’ Joy Pieloch, William H. Stengel, IV (Melanie); grandchildren, Lola, Malin, Samuel and Sydney; brothers, Michael J. Stengel (Karen), Gregg Stengel (Lynda), Glen Trace (Kim); sister, Betty Ann Dolly (Pete); many nieces and nephews.

At the request of the family, services will be private. Interment will take place at Jesus, Bread of Life Cemetery in Mount Laurel, NJ. In lieu of flowers and donations, please keep William’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Due to our current health crisis, there will be a memorial mass and gathering to celebrate Bill’s life in a few months’ time.

There will be a private funeral service on Friday, March 27, at 11:00 AM, which will be live-streamed on YouTube. This can be accessed through the Mount Laurel Home for Funeral YouTube channel:
