Mrs. Dorothy “Dottie” P. Bernard, age 77, of Millsboro, DE and formerly of Delran, NJ passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.
Dottie was born on January 29, 1941 in Bryn Mawr, PA to the late Arthur and Mary Mitchelltree Parkinson. She worked for 20 years at Farmers and Mechanics Bank and later became a Real Estate Broker which she was very proud of. She loved reading, ceramics, selling real estate and Diet Pepsi. She also was a great cook. Dottie was in charge and effective at setting a great example and knew how to solve problems. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, David O. Bernard, Sr.; three children, Jeanne Martin (Jeff) of Margate, FL; David O. Bernard, Jr. (Steve) of Elizabeth City, NC, James E. Bernard (Joni) of Cinnaminson, NJ, and Susan Ferry of Delran, NJ; two sisters, Patricia Finuoli of Bensalem, PA; Rita Grube (John) of Columbia PA and a brother, George Parkinson (Diane) of Clarion, PA. She also leaves behind to cherish her memories four grandchildren, Jason Sabol (Nicole) Joshua Sabol, James P. Bernard and Kaitlyn Bernard as well as one great grandson, Jacob Sabol.
A visitation will be held from 5PM – 7 PM on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Mt. Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Rd, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054.. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
