Donald E.  Cross
Donald Cross, 81 of Medford, NJ passed away on January 12, 2018 at Manor Care in Voorhees, NJ, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Cross spent his early years in Texas, where he met the love of his life, Patricia Grimes. Don first caught a glimpse of Patricia from across a dance floor at a party. He turned to his friend and declared: “That is the woman I will marry”. Indeed, Don and Patricia wed in Texas soon thereafter, and the couple recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. Among the notable highlights of Don’s Texas years includes catching one of the world’s longest rattlesnakes alive, working with actor Richard Widmark’s body double in the 1960 film “The Alamo”, and palling around with entertainers Johnny Cash and Ray Liberto.

After a highly successful career in telecommunications industry, Don and Patricia relocated to Bedminster, NJ, There Don dedicated his time to local politics for over a decade. Don was the mayor of Bedminster for 5 years. He also served as the deputy mayor and completed his terms as a Township Committee councilman. Don was deeply devoted to his faith. He was a communicant of St. Brigid Church, Peapack, NJ, where he was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. A champion for people in need, some of Don’s most passionate endeavors include monthly food drives for thy Food Bank Network at Somerset County and regular blood drives. After moving to Medford, NJ 6 years ago, Don and Patricia joined St. Isaac Jogues parish in Marlton, NJ. When Don was not dedicating his time to charitable events, he and Patricia traveled the world.

Donald is survived by his wife Patricia (nee, Grimes) Cross; children Mark J. Cross, Donna M. Zamost, (Bruce); brothers David and Doug Cross as well as 2 grandchildren Karolena and Zachery Zamost. Mr. Cross was preceded in death by his son Vincent L., and a brother Mike Cross.

All are invited to a visitation, on Saturday, January 27, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, immediately followed by a memorial service, both at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054. Entombment at Jesus Bread of Life Cemetery . In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Food Bank Network at Somerset County at www.somersetfoodbank.org or Catholic Charities Housing and Food; 801 Burlington Ave., Delanco, NJ 08075. Arrangements are by the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals.
