Obituary for Edward Nieto

Edward Francis Nieto, 86, of Mount Laurel, NJ passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on November 29, 2015. Edward was born on September 17, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of Toribio and Guadalupe (nee Torres) Nieto. Edward graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1947 and joined the United States Navy the same year where he was a radioman (Sparks). He achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class before receiving his honorable discharge in 1951. He went on to work as a logistician for the Brooklyn Naval Yard until it closed in 1965. Edward then moved his family to Mount Laurel, NJ where he continued his career as a logistician for the Philadelphia Naval Yard until his retirement in 1986. He is survived by his loving wife, Aracelia (nee Levy); daughter, Linda Ward; sons, Edward Jr., Joseph, Douglas and John; brother, Albert; sisters, Elsie Rodriguez and Sister Guadalupe Nieto. He was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Viewings will be held on Thursday, December 3rd from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and again on Friday, December 4th from 8:30 to 9:30 AM both at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated 10:30 AM on Friday, December 4th at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church, 42 West Main Street, Moorestown, NJ. Entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Edward’s name may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation at http://www.npcf.us/donate/.
