Obituary

FRANCINE MUCHNICK

March 21, 2020

Francine (nee Green) Muchnick, age 87, loving wife of 62 years to Gene Muchnick (deceased). Sister to Grace Simon (deceased). Mother to Edward Muchnick (Debra), Connie Nute (Tom) and David Muchnick. Known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “Tootsie” or “G.G.” She was adored by grandchildren Jessicah Ferroni (Kevin), Andrea Wilson (Charles), Sara Muchnick (Levi Brandriss), Lucas Treanor, and Zachary Muchnick. Great- grandchildren include Abigail, Sam, Atalie, Sloane, Cohen and Evan.

Born and raised in Atlantic City by parents Anna and Charles Green (deceased), Fran attended Atlantic City High School. She and Gene married in 1952 and started raising their family first in Philadelphia before moving to Willingboro, New Jersey. In 1964 they started The Children’s Sample Shop by selling Gene’s sample lines of children’s clothing from the many companies for which he was a salesman. Fran continued to build the business while Gene was on the road until it grew to the point he no longer needed to travel. Together with their partner Tom Dickson and sons Ed and David, The Sample Shop grew to 4 stores in Burlington, Cherry Hill, Deptford and Echelon. Selling everything from clothing, shoes, scouting and school uniforms, christening and communion apparel, The Children’s Sample Shop was well known in the South Jersey area. They closed the business in 2007.

Fran was a spicy ol’ broad who could entertain all on the piano without knowing how to read a note of music. A cook she was NOT, but boy could she make a reservation! A devoted card player, her love for her dog Speedy and family cruises was only surpassed by her love of slot machines. Not one to play favorites, she left a bit of herself (and our inheritance) in the casinos of Atlantic City, Las Vegas and California.

We will miss her cornflower blue eyes and the way they would twinkle when she was up to no good. Both mom and dad left us a lasting legacy of what it means to love.

” The only thing more beautiful than young love is old love”. And that they had together.
