Obituary for George Bunk Jr.

“I will love you till the stars grow cold. Ad Astra – To the Stars.” George A. Bunk, Jr. George Adalbert, 54, of Marlton, New Jersey, died Friday, December 27, 2013 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. George was born in Linden City, NJ and lived in Melbourne, FL. He moved to Marlton 12 years ago to work for Lockheed Martin as a Senior Staff Engineer in Moorestown NJ. He was an active member of the Ethical Society of Philadelphia. He was a highly intelligent man whose passion led to the stars. He was passionate about promoting the future of the space industry as a SARG representative, National Space Society and New Space member. As an Adjunct Professor at Burlington County College he taught Astronomy and Physics. He was an active member of the Willingboro Astronomy Society where he inspired young minds with a passion for space exploration. He gave presentations at local schools on astronomy and space missions inspiring young voyagers to journey to the stars. He was a member of the Victory Museum where obtained and operated a Space Vehicle Simulator. Mr.Bunk moved from Melbourne FL where he worked as Senior Engineer for The Boeing Company testing Payloads for the Space Shuttle and Space Station missions. He tested and maintained spacecraft ground support equipment. He managed the offline laboratories where experiments were readied for spaceflight including interplanetary missions to the stars. He had a Masters of Space Technology from Florida Institute of Technology. His passion for space started with Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, and Star Trek. Mr. Bunk is survived by his wife Renee Pamela Aiello-Bunk who shares his passion for space and science fiction. He is survived by his mother, Willie Faye Bunk; daughter, Theresa Ayers; brothers, Bradley Allan Bunk, Michael Anthony Bunk, Daniel Allen Bunk; sister, Jane Alice Salmon; Gregory and Denise Aiello; as well his nieces and nephews, Kyle Bunk, Sara Zurlo, Charlotte Bunk, Ashely Bunk, Phillip Bunk, Andrew Bunk, Rachel Bunk, and Trevor Salmon. Join us as we send him home to the stars. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 11th at Unity Church of Christ, 629 Church Street, Mount Laurel, NJ. Arrangements by Mount Laurel Home for Funerals.
