Obituary for Gunda Staton

Gunda M. (Arvidson) Staton, of Mt. Laurel, died on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at home. She was 83. Gunda was born and raised in Chicago, Il. She graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Education. After graduating, she moved to Long Beach, CA where she was a teacher. There she met her husband, George Staton, and they were married in 1957. Together they moved to New Jersey where she resided for 58 years. Gunda loved to travel, knit Christmas stockings and play bridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivar and Anna (Hasselgren) Arvidson of Gothenburg, Sweden; husband, George; and her only sister, Lillian. Survivors include her four children: Anne Standridge and husband Ron; George Staton and wife Sue; Jenny Puzia; Eric Staton and wife Desiree Callouette. Seven grandchildren: Kristin (Standridge) Carpenter and husband Brock; Kimberly (Standridge) Lewnes and husband Mack; David Standridge, Elizabeth Staton, Christine Staton, Christopher Puzia, and Laura Puzia. Twelve nieces and nephews and their children. She, also, leaves behind her sister-in-law, Luise Cherubini, and her best friend, of more than 50 years, Joan Van Camp. There will be a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given, in her name, to her favorite charities: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or the Salvation Army, New Jersey Division, P.O. Box 3170, Union, NJ 07083.
