James Patrick Carroll, age 63, of Naples, FL (formerly of Pennsauken, NJ) passed away, surrounded by family, on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse.

James, commonly known as Jim, is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen (nee O'Connor) and survived by his children, Aileen, Colleen, James, and Liam; son of the late James P. and the late Kathleen T. Carroll; siblings, Kathy (David) Berlin, Pat Carroll, Jeanne (the late John) Lawer, Maureen (Bob) Gornowski, Paul Carroll, the late Timmy Carroll, and Peggy (Dean) Sivley; mother-in-law Joan (the late Albert) O'Connor, the late Michael (Sherry) O'Connor, David (Charlotte) O'Connor, Karen (Tom) Ross, Kevin O'Connor, Nancy O’Connor; nieces and nephews, Matthew (Kaity) Berlin, Michael (Katie) Berlin, Tara (Chris) Smoke, John Lawer, Kevin Lawer, Robert (Tracy) Gornowski; Julie (Jeff) Dickinson, Jenny Sivley Armwood, Jill Sivley Henson, and James Sivley, Christopher O'Connor, Lesley (Billy) Suchla, Meaghan O'Connor, Matt (Erika) O'Connor, Sean O'Connor, Mark Jones, Lauren O'Connor, Hillary (Jordan) Orlewitz, TJ Ross, Brendan Ross, Connor Ross, Cullen Ross, Cormac O'Connor, Kian O'Connor, Maeve O'Connor, and lastly, in this obviously Irish family, Jim's granddogs Parker and Killian.

Jim was raised in New Jersey and moved around quite a bit before finally settling in Florida with his wife and children. He was a big Philadelphia sports fan, enjoyed music and movies in his leisure, but, above all, Jim cherished his time with his kids and families.

Jim was a beloved and loving father. He was an avid supporter of his daughters’ dance and sons’ music and athletics. He became a Florida Gators sports fan and travelled near and far, even cross-country and transatlantic, to celebrate achievements, help with moves (both geographic and career), and express his undying love to his family.

In his youth, Jim was a standout athlete at Camden Catholic High School and Rutgers University. He graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Biology and, later, with a Master of Business Administration. He worked in food research at Campbell Soup moving his way up to become a Vice President of research & development at American Home Food Products. After 20+ years in the food industry, he decided to make a career change into financial planning. He built his wealth management practice, Financial Advisors of Southwest Florida, and served as President.

Not only did Jim have a large family, both by birth and by marriage, he also had a vast network of friends; there are too many to list. Jim will be deeply missed by ALL.

All funeral services will take place at one venue. All are welcome. The viewing will be held Tuesday, May 7th from 9:00 to 10:15 AM, followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian burial, at the Church of Saint Isaac Jogues, 349 Evesboro-Medford Road, Marlton, NJ 08053.

Additionally, a Celebration of Life gathering will take place in Naples, Florida on Saturday, May 11th at 2:00 PM. The gathering location is the Villages of Monterey Clubhouse, 1725 Mission Drive, Naples, FL 34109. Please announce yourself to the gate guard saying you are attending the Carroll Family Gathering. Interment will be private and in Florida.

Flowers will be graciously accepted and appreciated through the NJ funeral home or our Naples family home. However, in lieu of flowers, we suggest making donations to Penn Medicine; either to the Otorhinolaryngology department or Hospice at Rittenhouse.

To Jims family, you have my deepest sympathy. I can only imagine your sadness, but rest assured Jim is watching over all of us. Jim and I grew up together in Pennsauken. We were singing buddies at St. Stephens. He actually had a very good singing voice. A great smile ,a great friend for the 8 years we went to grade school. Sadly enough that's the last time I saw Jim. I went to Bishop Eusatace and we never saw each other after grade school. Ironically, I to went to Rutgers, but the Camden campus, I think Jim went to New Brunswick, not sure. With deepest regards. Bless your beautiful soul Jim. God bless your lovely family as well.
