Obituary for John Brocken

JOHN F. BROCKEN John Ferdinand, 83, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at home. Mr. Brocken was born in Jersey City, NJ and lived in Somerdale, NJ before moving to Mount Laurel in 1972. He was a long time member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Moorestown, and retired as Operations Manager at the Moorestown Mall after 19 years of service. Mr. Brocken honorably served his country for 24 years in the US Navy, retiring as Lieutenant Commander in 1971. While in the Navy, he received the Navy Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Service Medal, Korea Service Medal awarded by both the US and Korean governments, Joint Service Commendation medal, Republic of Vietnam Medal with date bar, Korean Conflict Medal, Armed Service Expeditionary Medal and the Vietnam Medal. He was also a member of the Brant Beach Yacht Club and Military Officers Association. Mr. Brocken is survived by his wife of 53 years Rita H. (nee Noll); children John J., Glenn D. and Linda M. Heaton; sister Roberta Staudt; grandchildren Cody, Michael, Sabrina, John and Sara. Also surviving is a niece Joanmary Staudt. A private memorial service was held 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals.
