Obituary

CARLINO, (nẻe LANDIS) LILLIAN MAY of Lumberton, NJ passed to the Lord peacefully on July 25, 2020 after 100 loving years on Earth. Beloved wife of the late Albert Anthony Carlino; loving mother of Judith (John) Wojtko, Eileen Toroni and the late Henry Toroni, Teresa Carlino, Albert Carlino, Jr. (Linda Walton), Eugene (Mary Jane) Carlino, Annette (Bruce) Gubernick and James (Tracy) Carlino; loving grandmother of Anne (Tom) Zarick, Albert Wojtko, Amy (Keith) Wood, Paul (Bridget) Toroni, Danielle Carlino, Michael Carlino, Thomas (Robin) Carlino, Carl Carlino, Stephanie (Eric) Chapman, Gina Carlino, Nicole (George) Hall, Lauren Gubernick, Colin (Shaina) Gubernick, Christopher Carlino and Jessica Carlino; pre deceased in death by sisters Ethel (Charles) Walton, Marge (Walt) Deutscher, Catherine “Kitty/Cass” (Bill) Bunt, Eleanor (Clint) Glenn, brothers Howard (Jeanette) and Walt (Anne) Landis; and 19 great grandchildren.

Lillian and husband Albert both grew up in North Philly where they met in 7th and 8th grade. They were married in 1937 and lived for a short time with family in Northeast Philadelphia before moving to Maple Shade in1944. During the war, mom scrubbed floors, raised chickens and grew vegetables while raising her two little girls Judy (b. 1940) and Eileen (b.1942). She was a proud member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish where all her children went to school. In 1974 the family relocated to a small farm in Lumberton. NJ.

Lillian was a homemaker and wonderful mother, with excellent seamstress skills, and made many clothes for family and friends. She was also a master in the kitchen, where her food played a central role in all family gatherings. Other than the Lord, there was nothing she loved more than her family!

Family and friends welcome to celebrate Mom’s life on Wednesday, July 29th at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Hainesport, NJ (facial coverings and social distancing are required), and private interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Building Fund.

I loved Aunt Lillian dearly. She was kind and warm and genuine; everyone she encountered felt welcomed and loved in her company. I remember spending a night at the farm in my youth snuggled up next to Aunt Lil watching MacGyver and eating a cucumber salad with freshly picked cucumbers. My oldest son recently asked me, "Who is MacGyver?" and the memory of that sleepover flooded back, along with the cozy feeling of being near her.
I am saddened to hear of her passing, and heartbroken that I can not attend the celebration of her life. I think Aunt Lillian is most honored by the legacy of love she left behind in her children and grandchildren. The love she gave is so clearly reflected in the way she was cherished by her family. I'm so sorry for your loss, and I'm so happy that we had so many years of her love.

I LOVE Mrs. Carlino's smile! You see it in 95%+ of her photos, including the 100th Birthday party++. Smiles, shots (yes, I know) and the best balloons at 98, 99, and 100 equals no surprise to the adorned toast of Love to Mama Carlino! You are a truly blessed family! My all time favorite memory is where she comitted to, and actually "prepared" for her trip to Italy, to be in the best shape possible. A true inspiration always in all ways... PRICELESS!
Love, Shelly
