Obituary for Maryann DiBiase

Maryann H. DiBiase Maryann (nee Heavener), 79, of Delran, New Jersey, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice, Mount Holly, NJ. Mrs. DiBiase was born in Bessemer City, North Carolina (the daughter of Charles Heavener and Madge Tate Heavener) but lived most of her formative years in Altavista, Virginia until she got married in 1955. She then lived in Atco, NJ before moving to Delran, NJ in 1967. She worked briefly at Ancora Hospital from 1955 to 1956. In the 1970s and 1980s she served as a home-site paper captain for the paperboy newspaper pick-up for the Courier Post. She then worked as a crossing guard in Delran for 22 years from 1990 to 2012. Maryann is survived by her husband, Frank DiBiase, Sr.; three sons: Frank Jr., Christopher, and Matthew; four grandchildren: Frank III, Amanda, Kelsey, and Christopher Karl; her sister, Carole Ann Collins and her two nieces: Whitney Collins and Ashley Collins. Maryann loved singing and music (at one time in her youth she contemplated a musical career). Her musical interests ranged from Broadway Musicals to folk music to Motown to Bob Dylan to Loreena McKennitt (one of her greatest thrills was when she got to see Bob Dylan and Tom Petty in concert in 1986). She loved beautiful things whether they were paintings or fine china or Depression glass (she had a sizable collection) or wicker furniture. She was a voracious reader who instilled in her children a love of books and deep reading. Her library was well-stocked with books on gardening; books on famous painters; biographies; works of science fiction and historical fiction. She loved watching Masterpiece Theater and documentaries on persons and subjects that spoke to her heart; she was also an avid viewer of Star Trek and Star Trek: Next Generation. The visitation will be held on Friday, January 10th from 10:00-11:00 AM immediately followed by an 11:00 AM memorial service all at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ. Final disposition will be private. A reception afterwards will be held from 12-3 at Carlucci’s Waterfront at 876 Old Centerton Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ, 08054.
