HAYNES HAYNES, Paul Thomas, 71, of Bordentown, NJ, born and raised in Philadelphia passed away on July 2, 2015 at the VA Hospice Unit from sepsis and complications of a Spinal Cord Injury suffered in July, 2009. He received outstanding medical care from the Veteran’s Hospice Unit and Home Based Primary Care Program. A graduate of North Catholic High School, Paul was a First Lieutenant in the US Army serving as a Forward Observer in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive where he was awarded several meritorious commendations including the Bronze Star for Bravery. He attended Clemson University on a full football scholarship before volunteering for Vietnam. Upon his return home, he earned a Bachelor’s of Finance and Marketing from St. Joseph’s University and an MBA in Business Administration. His 40+ year career as first a Salesman, then Area, District and National Sales Manager included such companies as Xerox, Canon, Danka and Greentech Energy Services. His occupation took the family from Philadelphia to Cleveland, Boston, Atlanta and several towns in New Jersey – his favorite being Moorestown. Paul was a life-long athlete until the accident in 2009 left him a catastrophically disabled quadriplegic. He was an avid fan of any sporting event in which his sons participated. Paul was a very spiritual person with a great love for God and others; a gentle giant who treated everyone with respect and consideration. He was at the heart of any party with an infectious laugh and huge smile who enjoyed music, reading, a good cigar and attending theatre performances. He practiced what he preached; most important to him were Faith, Family and Friends. His affable nature, intelligence, large frame and contagious smile were tempered by compassion and humility. Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years Jean (nee Downey), his loving mother Pauline, devoted sisters Pat Cowden and Carolyn Thompson and remarkable sons and daughters-in-law; Paul and Michele, Jonathan and Amanda, Ryan and Meghan, and Colin and Lani. Paul is predeceased by his father George Haynes. He is the adoring Pop-Pop to Granddaughters Riley, Charlotte, Emma, Kayla, Kenley, Gia and Grandson, Kellen; Uncle to dozens of nieces and nephews and true friend to many. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and all who knew him, loved him. Relatives and friends are invited to Paul’s viewing at THE MOUNT LAUREL HOME FOR FUNERALS, 212 ARK ROAD, MOUNT LAUREL, NJ 08054 on Monday evening, July 6 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. An additional viewing will take place Tuesday morning, July 7 from 10:00 – 10:45 am at CHRIST OUR LIGHT CHURCH, 402 KINGS HIGHWAY NORTH, CHERRY HILL, NJ 08034. A Funeral Mass and life celebration will follow at 11:00. Interment at Jesus Bread of Life, Mount Laurel.
