Obituary for Richard Hurff

RICHARD P. HURFF, PhD Richard Paul Hurff, 73, of Haddon Heights, NJ passed away at home on Friday, April 17, 2015. Mr. Hurff, a graduate of Ursinus College and Lehigh University, was born in Camden, NJ and was a lifelong resident of this area. He was a beloved English Literature teacher at Audubon High School, where he supported countless former students through his contributions to their education. Mr. Hurff was a member of the NJ Education Association, NJ Antique Radio Club, and numerous other clubs and organizations. He was an antique automobile collector who had a passion for Studebakers in particular. Photography, the Victorian era, genealogy, and a quest for knowledge were among his many hobbies. He was an avid world traveler whose journeys took him to all corners of the earth in search of culture and adventure. Mr. Hurff, son of the late Melvin A. and Eleanor Hurff, is survived by his brother Burton S. (wife Helen) of Medford, NJ; niece Georgia S. Woodruff (husband Michael); nephew Burton J. (wife Leslie); grandnieces Emily, Sophie, Leah, and Grace; grandnephew Henry Richard, Dante, and Virgil II. A visitation will be held for family and close friends on Tuesday, April 21st from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, immediately followed by a funeral service at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ. Interment will be at Sicklerville Methodist Cemetery, Sickerville, NJ.
