Richard Thomas  Scarlett Sr.
Richard Thomas Scarlett, age 85, of Hainesport, NJ passed away in the comfort of his own home while surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.

Mr. Scarlett was born at home in Manayunk, PA and graduated from North Catholic High School in 1951. Richard and his beloved wife, Marykay lived in Country Lakes, NJ where they raised five children and took pride in their commitment to the community and involvement in youth activities. He was the owner of RT Scarlett Builders, a carpenter of custom-built homes throughout Burlington County. He later moved to Society Hill, Philadelphia and was an early redeveloper of Old City and help create the shop, Scarlett Alley where he sold his handmade woodwork and was recently featured on 6abc’s, The Art of Aging program. Richard spent his last eight years in Hainesport NJ, renovating a pre-revolutionary farm house filling it with his handcrafted furniture and carvings. An avid golfer, he was a charter member of Hanover Country Club (NJ) and a competitive sailor in the Catamaran Racing Association of Barnegat Bay (CRABB). He was a conversationalist, world traveler and drummer. He supported Little Flower Catholic High School, Old St. Joseph’s and St. Monica’s in Atlantic City.

Richard was predeceased by his beloved spouse, Marykay; children, Richard and Mark. He is survived by his children, John (Jill), Maribeth (Gary Krause), Christopher; grandchildren; Nicholas, Angelica, Mark, Jackie, Dean and Max, (mother Linda) 7 great grandchildren; Sister and brother-in-law Bernadette and Jay Handler and their families.

Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM , Monday, October 8, at Our Lady Queen of Peace RC Church, 1603 Marne Highway, Hainesport, NJ 08036.
