Obituary for Rita Josephine O'Connell
Rita Josephine O’Connell (nee O’Brien), age 94, of Mount Laurel, NJ passed away in the comfort of her own home while surrounded by loving family on Monday, June 4, 2018.
Mrs. O’Connell was born New York City, NY. She was a member of the Friendship Guild in Willigboro, NJ. In her leisure, she enjoyed dancing and traveling. Above all else, she cherished the time she spent with her family and will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind.
Rita was predeceased by her beloved spouse of 66 years, Michael L. O’Connell. She is survived by her children, Daniel (Mary Migacz) and Nancy Rende (Robert); grandson, Matthew Land (Margaret); and caregiver and close friend, Mahady Carter.
Viewings will be held on Sunday, June 10th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Monday, June 11th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, both at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated 11:30 AM on Monday, June 11th at Our Lady Queen of Peace RC Church, 1603 Marne Highway, Hainesport, NJ. Interment will follow at Brigadier William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Rita’s name may be made to Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053.
