Obituary for Robert Edwin Godfrey Jr.
Robert Edwin Godfrey, Jr., age 94, of Mount Laurel, NJ passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Care One Nursing Home in Evesham, NJ.
Mr. Godfrey was born, raised and a longtime resident of Mount Laurel. He was a third generation farmer specializing in tomatoes for the Campbell Soup Company, sweet corn, grains and soybeans. He was an avid hunter and went on annual hunting trips. He was a lifetime member of the Mount Laurel Deer Club. He enjoyed baseball and played on the Mount Laurel men's team for eight years. He served his country in the U.S Army. He was a longtime volunteer fireman for the Marlton Fire Department. He was a member of the N.J. Farm Bureau, Soil Conservation Association and the Grange.
Mr. Godfrey was predeceased by his beloved spouse, Claire Godfrey; and his daughter, Jeannie Godfrey Oppido. He is survived by his children, Robert E. Godfrey (Ruth Ann) and Gaylee Godfrey Reynolds (Joseph); and grandchildren, Robert M. Godfrey (Lizette), Royce E. Godfrey, Monika C. Godfrey, Joseph S. Reynolds, Kristina J. Oppido, and Angelina C. Oppido; great grandson Robert M. Godfrey; sisters Emily Conklin, Genevieve Schachle, and Gladys Carlson; and great friend, Ray Hofmann.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 2nd at Eldridge Cemetery, 215 Cemetery Road, Mount Laurel. All are invited to a memorial luncheon following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, in Robert’s name may be made to the N.J. Future Farmers of America (FFA) Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 214, Allentown NJ 08501.
